Houston custom homebuilders Jamestown Estate Homes strive to stay at the forefront of the industry by participating in a variety of educational events. Members of our building team recently completed a series of courses and earned designations through the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
Earning homebuilding designations shows a commitment to the home building industry and to professional business practices.
Victoria Hawes, one of Jamestown’s superintendents, recently earned the Certified Graduate Builder (CGB) designation. CGB courses focus on effective management in the office and on the job site, examine all stages of new home construction and cover topics such as scheduling, estimating, job cost procedures, accounting principles and basic contract law.
CGBs must have at least two years of home building experience and must successfully complete a series of classes specific to the needs of the industry, including business and project management, building technology and safety. In addition, they must demonstrate that they comply with any state or local requirements for workers’ compensation and liability insurance.
Greg Hawes, President of Jamestown Estate Homes, recently earned the designation of Graduate Master Builder (GMB). The ultimate symbol of the building professional, the GMB designation is for seasoned builders with at least 10 years of experience.
Before beginning the GMB designation process, you must have the CGB designation, ten years of building experience, and have completed three CGB/CGR/CGA courses. GMB courses are more advanced with in-depth instruction geared for experienced building professionals.
Both CGBs and GMBs must sign their respective Code of Ethics, signifying their commitment to excellence.
